LATMOS seminar.
Description
Venus is completely shrouded in sulfuric acid clouds that govern its radiative balance, dynamics, and chemistry. Thus, the clouds play a pivotal part in Venus’ atmospheric system. In this talk, I will present a series of studies that combine numerical modeling to understand the cloud formation mechanism. The numerical tools we use include 3-D GCM and 1-D cloud microphysics modeling. The former is used to understand how clouds form and are distributed globally. The latter is used to track the evolution of cloud size from its birth (nucleation) to the observed micron-sized particles. Finally, I will highlight ongoing work building upon these modeling frameworks.
