Is Titan flat? Exploring the sphericity effects on the radiative transfer within Titan's atmosphere with a backward Monte Carlo model.

Description
In this presentation, we will explore the sphericity effects affecting the radiative transfer in Titan’s atmosphere.
We use a backward Monte Carlo radiative transfer model (htrdr-planets), which incorporates recent developments in computing science, to estimate the heating rates within Titan’s atmosphere and compare with the 2-stream plane-parallel model used in the Titan LMDZ Planetary Climate Model (PCM). We will also explore preliminary results on the coupling between htrdr-planets and the Titan LMDZ PCM, to assess how the sphercity may affect the thermal structure, the dynamic and the microphysics, within Titan’s atmosphere.
