Séminaire
In the information era, it is often a real challenge for our fellow citizens to distinguish between scientifically sound information and misleading claims they read on the Internet.
In this seminar, I will present the ClimateFeedback.org initiative that organizes a worldwide network of scientists to review influential climate media stories for accuracy and rate their “scientific credibility”. Scientists’ analyses help readers identify news stories that are consistent with science and provide authors and editors with constructive feedback to encourage better reporting. With Climate Feedback, scientists use new web-annotation technology that allows readers to see scientists’ insights right next to the original article.
The talk will present the results and insights learned from 1 year of experimentation with this new approach and open the discussion to opportunities for science communication and outreach.
