Résumé :

Terrestrial aridity is commonly defined as the balance between precipitation and evaporative demand over land. As global climate warms, both these quantities will change over continents. In this talk, I will propose a discussion of whether global warming generally implies an overall more arid climate over land (as is most commonly argued in the literature), or a less arid one. I will review some elements of the literature in favor of the different perspectives, and present recent results based on CMIP5 projections regarding changes in aridity over land which shed some light on this discussion.
