Before graduate studies in France
Social security rights
International students can benefit from simple, free health coverage with the French “Assurance Maladie”. In anticipation of their arrival in France for their studies, international students must apply for affiliation to French social security by registering on the dedicated Assurance Maladie website: HERE
For more details on the registration procedure and the nationalities concerned, and to know all the steps involved, from registering with the Assurance Maladie to obtaining a carte vitale and reimbursing health expenses, you can visit the site: HERE
You do not need to register on this site if:
- you are covered by the social security scheme of one of your parents who is an international civil servant or member of an international organization
- you are a citizen of a European Union country, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway or Switzerland with a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
To increase the amount of your healthcare reimbursements, you can take out a complementary health insurance or “mutuelle”. To find out more about this subject, visit the Campus France website: HERE
