Résumé :

Radiative convective equilibrium has been applied in past studies to various models given its simplicity and analogy to the tropical climate. At convection-permitting resolution, the focus has been on the organization of convection that appears when using fixed sea surface temperature. Here  the framework is applied to a fully interactive land surface. The coupling between the land and the atmosphere happens through soil moisture; soil moisture controls the strength of the latent heat flux, is depleted by evaporation and replenishes by precipitation. In this study, we investigate whether the coupling to the land surface strengthens or weakens the organization of convection previously observed over sea surfaces and highlight the underlying mechanisms.
