Training in Environmental Sciences
The study of Earth science is a subject that requires solid knowledge in several basic scientific disciplines: physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology mainly. The development of theories, of models and of observational networks demand a wide range of skills needed in a variety of careers: engineers, technicians, researchers, teachers, teacher - researchers and administrative agents.
The IPSL staff offers training courses in many institutions of the Paris area, both in the core disciplines and in the environment specialized field. The staff teaches in particular in the UPMC-University Pierre and Marie Curie, in the UVSQ-University of Versailles-Saint Quentin en Yvelines, in other universities in the Paris area and in different other schools and Engineers schools (Ecole Polytechnique, Ecole Normale Superieure, Ecole Centrale, Sciences Po ...). Because environmental sciences are multidisciplinary, many training paths are possible (and desirable!) in order to include the wide range of knowledge and skills necessary for understanding our planet.
As part of the harmonization of European higher education systems, all universities in the Paris area apply the LMD system. This system include a general training (License level), a specialty training (Master level) and a research training (Doctorate level).
