Séminaire
In this talk, first, I introduce the Institute of Earth Sciences dealing with geology, material sciences, soil sciences, physical and social geography. I show main research directions of the Institute as well as education activities.
Then I focus on the activity of the Department of Geophysics. I present education programs, and I briefly discuss scientific approaches in seismic, electromagnetic and GPR methods.
Third, I focus on the Induced Polarization and Self-potential methods. I show how we interpret Spectral Induced Polarization data in connection with Computed Tomography data and thin section images in studying hydrothermally altered rocks. I briefly describe a mineralogical effect, which can be a cause of the membrane polarization phenomenon producing an IP effect.
Finally, I present newly obtained data on measurements of the streaming current effect in situ in the course of a pumping test experiment.
