Indo-European research Facilities for Studies on Marine Ecosystem and Climate in India (INDO-MARECLIM) is the first European Commission FP7 project under the EU-India INCOLAB Call coordinated by an Indian Coordinator, Nansen Environmental Research centre(India) with five European partners, IFREMER (France), NERSC (Norway), CMCC (Italy), PML (UK) and Alterra (Netherlands) since 2012. It facilitates and improve European Union Member States and Associated Countries co-operation with India in the research areas of marine ecosystems and climate, including the impact on the society. INDO-MARECLIM aims at analyzing and understanding some of the challenges (e.g. changes in the monsoon, sea level rise, coastal erosion, changes in primary production, fisheries and biodiversity) of the Indian Ocean and the Indian sub-continent under past, present and future global change processes. The project and cooperation will contribute to building strategic R&D partnerships between institutions in Europe and India. The research facilities and resources of Nansen Environmental Research Centre - India (NERCI) would become the Gateway of scientific cooperation between India and the European Union member states and associated countries in the areas of monsoon climate variability, marine ecosystems and costal management including its impact on society. The project and cooperation will contribute to building strategic R&D partnerships between institutions in Europe and India. Infrastructure and expertise at NERCI will provide a platform for interaction with European scientists. The details of this project can be viewed from http://www.indomareclim-nerci.in . The project would highlight some of the objectives achieved during the last couple of years in the areas of Monsoon studies, Satellite observations and Modelling of Oceanic phenomenon like coastal upwelling along the SW coast of India.
