Résumé :
The expansion of remote sensing for surveying the global environment has accompagned climate change studies during the last 30 years. Fast shrinking of the Arctic pack ice is among the most spectacular and significant indicators of global warming. The talk will bring a short history and appraisal of tools and methods used for surveying the sea ice extent and surface in the Arctic ocean and surrounding seas. It will also examine the present limitations and future developments of remote sensing for further studies on the depth, mass and heat budget of sea ice.
